For many years Brodies Solicitors LLP, of Atholl Crescent, Edinburgh have appeared in SACL’s online Rogues' Gallery of crooked Scottish law firms. They have also featured prominently in our legendary SACL Flyers, which are distributed throughout Scotland, in their tens of thousands, every month. These monthly flyers are hand-delivered to every MSP and have also made their way into the private bags of QC's and Advocates at the Court of Session. Further hundreds of thousands of images of large posters, being held by Stuart Usher, accusing Brodies of being Crooks and Fraudsters have appeared in the Scottish Media. The same posters and placards also appeared in a Channel Four documentary: ‘The House of Usher’.
Throughout the documentary Stuart Usher can be seen quite clearly holding these posters and placards. All of this poses a big question: Why on earth have Brodies not sued either Usher and/or SACL for defamation? The answer is obvious, namely: Brodies LLP are indeed Crooks and Fraudsters and stand correctly accused.
Anyone reading this (apart from Brodies of course) will want to know the identity of the Crooks who carried out this colossal fraud against the Usher family. ALISTAIR CAMPBELL was Brodies Chariman in the nineties and also LIED to the Police following "The House of Usher" documentary. DAVID HENRY HOULDSWORTH WS (Partner), a specialist in bogus conveyancing HUGH JOHN STEVENS WS (Partner), a tax and accountancy specialist. Very handy for covering up criminal activity. These two worked closely and effectively in executing the fraud. There were others intimately involved in the fraud, but who are now deceased: LOGAN MCLURE WS (an Ex Captain of Muirfield Golf Club, a lawyer hell-hole if ever there was one). HOW ON EARTH DID BRODIES GET AWAY WITH THIS?
These Brodies criminals got de-facto control of considerable Usher assets which they said belonged to an Usher who was a registered Incapax. They appointed themselves "Curator Bonis" (ie glorified Guardians) to the Incapax. When the Incapax died one of these Curator Bonis (Stevens) appointed the Curator Bonis (Houldsworth) of the brother of the Incapax who was himself also an Incapax, to be the executor of the estate of the deceased Incapax. Very neat and a highly effective way of concealing criminal activity! Any inquiry from relatives of the Incapax concerning the assets of the Incapax were met with a very firm: "It's none of your business" from Brodies. The end result of these years of criminal activity by Brodies was the ruination of the branch of the Usher family to which the Incapax belonged. During the decades of Brodies having control of these assets Brodies enjoyed startling growth from a small practice to one of the largest in Scotland with offices in London as well. Shortly after being named and shamed as Crooks and Fraudsters and appearing in the media in connection with the loss of Usher estates Brodies changed their legal basis from the normal one of a Partnership where all the Partners were jointly liable for claims against the firm to a "Limited Liability Partnership" where only the partners who caused the losses resulting in claims can be held responsible. Another neat way of Brodies evading the consequences of their serial criminal activity.
EXTENT OF LOSSES
On the basis of the Usher Trust assets being managed in a competent manner over the last hundred years and based on first hand knowledge of some of these assets it would be entirely reasonable to conclude that the losses caused by Brodies amounts to hundreds of million of £'s. Crooked lawyers like Brodies can launder a lot of money and property in twenty-eight years.
SURELY A LAWYER WOULDN'T DARE RISK MISAPPROPRIATING CLIENTS' ASSETS FOR THEIR OWN GAIN?
The answer to this question lies in the Rogues' Gallery itself, where you will find scores of lawyers who have been found guilty of doing just that. The vast majority of those lawyers however worked for smaller firms who are generally held to be more accountable for their actions. Lawyers working for the bigger firms, such as Brodies, are free to treat clients' assets as their own.
